Dylan is an amazing guitar teacher! I was self taught for a couple years before seeking out a teacher, and hadn't touched theory at all. In just a few months of lessons with Dylan, I had a good basis and now a year later I understand concepts that would have taken me literal years to wade through on my own. i decided to pursue guitar after years of sitting on the sidelines. i'd always wanted to learn, just never prioritized it. until this year. i honestly didn't know what to expect, but have been absolutely blown away. this instrument is both dynamic & complex but the amount of progress i've made in such a short time has exceeded my expectations. truly blown away.

Dylan has a personality that you can instantly connect with. I knew he was the right teacher for my son after the first lesson. He not only taught my son some things on the guitar, but also how to practice effectively and efficiently. Like many, I have been playing for many years (since 1975) and never took a professional lesson. After considering all of my options, I contacted Dylan Andrews because of his high ratings and good reviews. Was very impressed with Dylan at our initial consultation because he was interested in “My Goals”. Have been going weekly now for 10 months and am astonished at how far I have come. Now, I am doing things on the guitar that I never thought possible. Be prepared to SHOCK you family and friends (as they stare at you with their mouth hanging open) as you play at a family gathering, or on the front porch. Sure wish I did this 40 years ago. Soon, I will be recording my own music for my cooking videos.

So I was going the self-taught route for over 5 years, and eventually hit a wall I couldn't get through. I discovered Dylan, who teaches lessons nearby, and he immediately sparked my joy for guitar again. All it took was a single lesson, and now I am back to practicing pretty much every day. He's patient with all of his students and has this certain teaching mindset that allows him to break down complex topics/techniques into digestible chunks. It's still mindblowing to me that he's given me the confidence to play scales up and down the fretboard and actually know what notes they are (and not just memorizing numbers on a tab sheet). I'll start by saying that I had been playing guitar for about 10 years before reaching out to Dylan. I was confident I could play about 85% of all the songs out there, but that last 15% was a hurdle I just couldn't overcome, no matter what I tried.
I've been taking lessons for only about 2 months now, and I'm already seeing significant improvement compared to where I was before. Starting guitar lessons with Dylan was one of the best, if not the best, decisions I have made for learning guitar quickly and efficiently while also having a great time. I was a bit surprised and a bit apprehensive to learn that the class was in a social setting, as I had only played alone before, but honestly, now I wouldn't have it any other way. Dylan is a master at directing his attention where needed, even in a full room, and was also adamant about holding up to social distancing and masking requirements due to our current pandemic, which was greatly appreciated.
